Boom Boom, Bang, Scream, Ghzzzz, Brrmmm……..

Like all the stories I have heard about ghosts, the recent incident at Raiganj University defies logic on so many counts. It is being widely reported across media that around 11 pm on Tuesday night (21/8/18), all the security guards on night duty heard loud sounds emanating from the closed doors of the Physics department. Loud noises of  dragging of furniture, even breaking of furniture, breaking of glass forced the four very awake and alarmed security guards to report to the higher authorities, immediately. The University Registrar swang into action and the police and fire brigade were summoned. The lock to the department was broken open in the presence of the police but most astonishingly nothing, absolutely nothing, was found amiss. So where were these inexplicable sounds coming from and that too for around 40 minutes? From then on, naturally, a sense of panic gripped everyone. The only ‘explanation’ was therefore ghosts.

The honourable VC and some teachers have teamed up to look out for anything suspicious during the night. However, the mystery deepened when the team visited the ‘haunted’ department again in the morning and found no incriminating evidence to put up a logical explanation. From the girls’ hostel to the entire village the yet unexplained sounds have terrorised all. The University officials have raised the night patrol significantly, the teachers and administration partaking in them personally. They have also tried to explain the incident through far-fetched logic. But nobody is willing to listen to their reason. Because the ghosts have made a sweeping impression of themselves at Raiganj, after their tryst at North Bengal University campus in the recent past.

So is it that in the culturally rich Bengal,  the phantom-platform has found its space in the precincts of the universities?

If you have an experience to share like this from any part of the world, please write to me about it. Really keen to know.

Yours very own

Kaberi
